About Matt

Welcome! My approach to therapy begins with you – your goals, hopes, and dreams for the future. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone has everything they need inside of them. I believe people get stuck when they get disconnected from their internal wisdom. Stuck in strategies to try and solve their struggles. Strategies that don’t get them what they need. Strategies that demand a high price. Here you are, taking a bold step towards getting what you need, getting unstuck!

Collaboration is extremely important to me – we are partners working towards your goals, those things you want to be different. I see myself as a guide, walking with you. I bring a variety of tools as a guide. Tools to help shift the mind and patterns of thinking. Tools to help the body shift and release stuckness. Tools to help the whole person release past traumas and adverse life experiences. Tools to update unhelpful adaptations from the past. My focus is to adapt and customize all of these possible tools for each unique client, building upon their innate strengths.

While I’m focused on working hard with clients, there’s always room for humor and lightness. I bring my whole self and I invite clients to bring their whole selves into the work, not just the “injured parts”. I love a great joke or an interesting story. I’m endlessly curious about so many things about the world and people. I love movies and eating well. I love traveling near and far – learning about the world, history, and people.

Experience

During my near decade in the mental health field, I have served in many roles. I worked with clients in their homes who were experiencing severe mental illness and poverty. I worked with adolescents and their families in a day treatment program. I worked with clients at outpatient clinics: a non-profit community mental health and a clinic specializing in treating trauma. I have also served in leadership positions, holding the positions of Clinic Supervisor and Assistant Director of Clinical Services. As a board certified supervisor, I have worked with other therapists to help strengthen their clinical skills.
